Strong Families, Strong Children
Support for Orange County veteran and military children and families.
Are you a veteran or military family going through a difficult time, such as being affected by legal issues, deployment, family problems, unstable housing, or transitioning out of the military?
Are you and your children affected by the stress of deployments of the effects of Permanent Change of Station (“PCSing”)?
Are you the spouse of a military member or veteran who is looking for support and resources such as finding employment, housing, legal support, domestic violence services, confidential counseling, or other community resources?
Our Mission:
SFSC's mission is to improve the health and well-being of veterans, military families, and children throughout Orange County by engaging the community, building resiliency, and creating safer, more stable home environments. When a soldier serves, the entire family serves but the entire family does not often receive the same level of care or services. 10 years ago, Child Guidance Center recognized that these unique challenges faced by our military connected families were not being met. Strong Families Strong Children was created in 2013 to provide culturally sensitive mental health and wrap around services to military connected families.
Finding The Right Help:
We know that veteran and military-connected families face many unique challenges. Deployment, transitioning back to civilian life, parenting, finances, employment, or domestic violence are challenges that many military-connected families face.
SFSC’s services are designed to help veteran and active-duty families connect to community resources, support kids, build resiliency, develop effective parenting skills, and manage stress.
SFSC understands the challenges of veteran and military families because our team has experienced military service backgrounds – personally or through a family member. Our team of Peer Navigators and Clinical Case Managers understand what it means to be a veteran or active-duty family.
Who We Serve:
We provide free support for all of Orange County’s veteran and military-connected families with children, regardless of length of service, type of discharge, rate of disability, financial need, or marital status. We also provide services to extended family members who are providing guardianship over the children of veterans, active duty and reservists.
