Who We Are
How We Help Children and Families
At Child Guidance Center, our mission is clear: we empower children and their families to achieve health and wellness through dedicated mental health care.
Since our inception in 1967, we've been a leading provider of innovative mental health treatment, supporting Orange County's underserved children, teens, and families, including veterans and military families.
Founded by a group of concerned healthcare professionals and parents, Child Guidance Center identified the urgent need for mental health services for children and their families in our community. For more than 55 years, we've grown into a team of more than 90 skilled mental health providers, including licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, and Peer Navigators. Our diverse team offers services in multiple languages, ensuring culturally competent care.
We are committed to fostering strong and healthy communities by providing family-centered, integrated, and comprehensive mental health treatment. Our focus extends beyond treatment — we create strong foundations for healthy development into adulthood and offer mental health workforce training to students and industry professionals.
Child Guidance Center stands as an advocate for the mental health needs of families who are often ignored, misunderstood, or facing bias. We aim to increase awareness of children's mental health while inspiring community support for our cause. Every month, we support 1,000 children (0 to 21 years old) and their families, with an estimated 154,000 individuals benefiting from our services to date.
We believe in providing transformative mental health services in an inclusive environment that celebrates and supports diversity in all its forms. Together, we strive to ensure that all children, regardless of background or circumstance, have access to the support they need to thrive.
