Chris Huyett
Developmental & Community Outreach
Chris Huyett is a seasoned professional with nearly 20 years of experience in leading child focused non-profits. As the new Development Director for Child Guidance Center, she is responsible for community outreach and development.
Chris's journey as an advocate for children was inspired by the traumatic birth of her first son, who arrived in this world weighing less than 2 pounds. This life-altering experience caused her to seek out the March of Dimes and raise her hand to help families and babies also struggling with pregnancy, prematurity and infant loss. Because of this, she dedicated 17 years to the March of Dimes in a tireless pursuit of better outcomes for mothers and babies across three states. Her efforts were instrumental in expanding awareness and generating contributions that significantly advanced research and advocacy initiatives.
Throughout her career, Chris has been recognized with several accolades, underscoring her extraordinary commitment to her community. She was honored with the Unforgettable Heart Award in 2020 for bringing 17 NICU baby showers to local hospitals for families who had an infant struggling to survive in addition to her day job as the Executive Director in Southern California. In 2018, she received the Angel on Earth Award, a testament to her selfless efforts in making a positive difference for children in Orange County. These accolades are complemented by additional community awards, such as the 40 under 40 award and Mother of the Year awards, further exemplifying her outstanding contributions.
With this experience, a heart brimming with compassion, and a dedication to serving the community that she calls home, Chris is now positioned to effect meaningful change as a vital member of the Child Guidance Center's team helping children and families grappling with mental health challenges and providing resources and solutions for the unique challenges faced by the military-connected families in Orange County.
